Pumpkin "Amish Pie".
Mid-early variety of portioned pumpkin.
This ancient variety produces orange fruits of an unusual teardrop shape, which weigh from 2 to 5 kg when ripe. Their light orange, dense and sweet pulp is perfect for making pies, casseroles, mashed potatoes, soups and desserts. Each vine produces up to 3 bright orange fruits.
Pulp qualities: juicy, crispy, sweet, with a subtle hint of toasted chestnut flavour.
Plant length: 150–400 cm.
Fruit size: 40–60 cm.
Agricultural technology.
Sowing : seeds in the ground when the soil warms up to +10+12°C. Sow 2-3 seeds per hole to a depth of 3-5 cm. After the shoots appear, remove weak plants.
Also grown through seedlings, with planting in open ground at the age of one month, when the threat of frost has passed. Planting pattern 100 x 70 cm.
The best soils are sandy loam and light loam. It is recommended to plant after cabbage, onions, potatoes, and root crops.
Care : pinching of side shoots, pinching of the main stem (after several fruits have set), watering, weeding, loosening, hilling, fertilizing with complex water-soluble mineral fertilizer (NPK).
